Saying good-bye to a beautiful patterned paper

Well we have reached the middle of the week. I can't believe that tomorrow is July. Does the time seem to be flying by for you also? Before you know it the kids will be going back to school.

I decided to use a patterned paper challenge at Just Add Ink . You were to include patterned paper on your creation. Since today is the last day that this paper is available I decided to use it for my card. I found a great sketch challenge at Create with Connie and Mary . I knew it would be perfect for this paper. I saw an ATC created by Eileen LeFevre that used the treatment of the Punched Posies set that I CASED. I loved what she did with the 2 images and knew it would be perfect for this card. I had some textured Melon Mambo cardstock that I used for the card base. Here is the sketch and my creation.

Experimenting with stamps

I have my catalog workshop tonight. The ladies are going to make a mini cardstock ring with a sample of all the colors. The ladies love this as it is small and can fit in their purse. They will also get their new catalogs tonight. They have seen mine but are anxious to get their own so they can begin their wish lists.

My card today uses a color challenge from the The Color Dare blog. You were to use

Old Olive, Ruby Red, Cameo Coral, Very Vanilla

I combined it with the sketch challenge at the Pals Paper Arts blog. I have to admit this card turned out a lot prettier than I thought it would. I didn't have patterned paper in these colors so I used images from the stamp set to create my own paper. Here is the sketch and my creation.

10 Minute Challenge - Not!

Well I had a busy weekend. On Friday I went to the airport to pick up my daughter's 2 cats. They have been transferred to Quantico from Hawaii so she has shipped me the cats until they get here in the middle of July. It has been interesting to see how the cats and Bijou interact. Bijou barks and Niko hisses. I am hoping that in a few days things will settle down.

I spent a lot of my time this weekend working on my graduate class. I managed to spend a little time yesterday making some cards. Today's card uses the color challenge from Picture Perfect Creations.









I combined it with the 10 minute challenge at Carole'Anne and Sandi's blog. This week it was a sketch challenge. I didn't make the 10 minute time limit again. It took 15 minutes to make my card. Here is the sketch and my creation.

Another Scrapbook Page

Happy Friday Everyone!

I don't have a card for you today. Now wait, before you leave I do have something for you to check out. A couple of weeks ago I participated in a scrapbook page challenge. At that time I made a page for Bijou's (my papillon) scrapbook. Last night I held my first technique class and we did the emboss resist technique. We made a card using the technique. I wanted to show the ladies that they can use the technique in other ways so I made the title page for Bijou's scrapbook. I used Versamark and the pad to emboss the butterflies. Then I used the swirl from Priceless to add a swirl to the butterfly wings and embossed it with clear. Next I used a sponge dauber to sponge ink on the butterflies. I wiped off the ink from the embossed image with a paper towel. I have to admit the darker ink shows up better. Since I used Confetti White as the background, the swirls are subtle. ATC and a card

Well I came home from class last night and needed to unwind so I decided to play in my craft room. Because I had the need to ink you get a new card today.

This card fits quite a few challenges. The first is the challenge at Late Night Stampers. For this challenge you were to make an ATC card. I love ATC's. I have participated in several swaps so this was right up my alley. Since the Hand Stamped Sentiments has an anything but a card, this also fits that challenge. I used the color challenge from Cards & Things.







I combined that with the sketch challenge at Mary Jo's Techno Stamper. I did switch the layers around and I made my middle rectangle open with a sentiment inside.

Bright Petals

Well we are halfway though our week. I have my class tonight and a technique class tomorrow night. Busy 2 days for me!

I wanted to share a card I got from a TAG group I am in. I got this cute card in the mail on Monday. It was just what I needed as I have so much going on right now. The card is from Gwen Mangelson. Here is what she sent me.

I took some time yesterday from working on my class to make some cards so you will have something to look at this week. It was good to play but now I need to put my nose the grindstone again.

My card today uses the color challenge from Picture Perfect Creations .







I combined it with the sketch challenge at Cards & Things .









The last challenge this fits into is the butterflies, flowers, and birds which is challenge 12 at Just Scraps. You were to use a butterfly, flowers, and a bird on your card. I am trying to play with layouts for my convention swap cards. I am thinking of doing using this layout with the cute hedgehog from Fun & Fast notes. Just need to choose my colors. What do you think? I just had to play!

Presto Patterns Paper

Happy Saturday Everyone!

I played some more with the presto patterns paper today. I am liking this paper more and more. It is in the summer mini but it is also carried over into the new catalog. Yeah!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I began with the 10 minute challenge from Carole'Anne and Sandi. It was a color challenge this week and you were to use Ballet Blue, Crushed Curry, and Green Galore. Love these colors together but sad to say they are retiring. I combined it with the sketch challenge at Inkspirations 4U. I took 25 minutes to do the card - did not include the inside. I punched the wrong size square and had to go back and repunch them. Also wanted to add some ribbon which was not in the sketch so I had to go looking for it and that took more time. Oh well I made an attempt. Here is the sketch and my creation.

The card that took all day!

When you see this you may say, why did it take all day? Well the actual card did not take all day to make it just took all day to finish. I started and had to go run errands. Came home and began working on it again and my sister came over with a project that needed my help. When she left I finished the card and took the picture. I began the upload and then had to fix dinner. As soon as I post this I am going eat!

I started with the sketch challenge at Techno Stamper.













I also used the Father's Day/Masculine card challenge at Create with Connie and Mary. And since I used a wheel, it is for the Wheel challenge at Late Night Stampers. I flipped the sketch and moved my sentiment. I used a new core color - Marina Mist - as the base of this card. I really love how Marina Mist and Wild Wasabi - layer behind sentiment and dog layer - look together. I am just loving how the new colors blend so well. I also went back to my love - watercoloring - which I haven't done in a while. Here is my creation.

I am making this one just under the wire. I have been trying all week to do the 30 minute scrapbook challenge for Carole'Anne's and Sandi's Friday Challenge. My graduate class is taking a lot of my time as it is new and I am just getting started with it. I am sure things will settle down next week.

I have an adorable papillon dog that I have had for 1 year. She is so cute and has personality plus. I have wanted to start her scrapbook but just never did find the time. Since papillon is french for butterfly I am going with a butterfly theme for her book. That will mean I need to use some of my retired stamps and wheels. The wheel I used on this page is retired

This week Carole'Anne and Sandi had a scrapbook page challenge and you had 20 minutes instead of 10. Didn't make the time limit but I am excited as I have now started Bijou's scrapbook. I used the color challenge from Inkspirations 4 U Online Classes.






I won a free pass and since I love challenges I decided to do this one. Since I used a wheel it also fits the wheel challenge at Late Night Stampers. Here is the sketch and my creation.

It's Wheel Week - Day 4

Good Morning!

I have been swamped this week. I am teaching a new graduate course that has me very busy. It is a summer course so I have to cover all the concepts in 9 classes that meet twice a week for 5 weeks. My first week is over so I have 4 days to prepare for the next week. It will help as I this week I had to prepare for Wednesday on Tuesday afternoon and Wednesday morning.

Okay, enough chit chat on to my card. I am still using wheels for our challenge at Late Night Stampers. I saw that Tracy at Ink Spots and Gum Drops had a clean and simple challenge to case a card from the catalog. Since I have my copy of the new catalog I wanted to use it. I looked through it and found a card on page 42. It is a Christmas card but I used my wheel . I also used 3 of the new colors you can get in July. I used Daffodil Delight and Cherry Cobbler which are core colors and Concord Crush which is a new in color. Here is my creation.

I am still having problems with my ribbon drying when I color it with markers or the ink pad. I used a marker on this on Sunday and when I went to put it together last night it will would not stick with my Zots. I had to use glue which I don't like as it shows when it dries. It's Wheel Week - Day 2

I have my card to share, but wanted to share a card I got. I joined a tagging group on my yahoo group. Basically all the members have their info in a database and you choose someone to send a card to. It is random so you never know when you are going to get a card. It is a lot of fun and I was so excited when I got my first card. I received this cute card from Sharon Field. Make sure you visit her blog as she is one talented lady.

























So are you ready for today's card using a wheel? This one uses some soft colors and is very spring looking. I let the wheel determine the layout on this card.
